Located at the foot of the Corton hill, Aloxe-Corton covers about 120 hectares, much of which is devoted to Grand Cru vineyards, while the village-level appellation represents a more confidential production. On stony clay-limestone soils, Pinot Noir gives rise to powerful, full-bodied wines. The color is deep, ranging from ruby to garnet. The nose reveals aromas of black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), spices, licorice, and sometimes leathery notes with age. On the palate, the structure is firm, with solid tannins and a very long finish.
Food pairings
Aloxe-Corton village pairs beautifully with roasted or grilled red meats, sauced game dishes, hare stew, or strong cheeses like Livarot or aged Langres.

The appellation mainly offers red wines from Pinot Noir, elegant and spicy, and a small number of balanced whites with white fruit and hazelnut notes. The finest plots are classified as Premier or Grand Cru.
