Clos du Tue Bœuf, based in Les Montils in the Loir et Cher, is one of the foundational estates of the natural wine movement in the Loire Valley. Run by brothers Thierry and Jean Marie Puzelat, the domaine has been farmed organically for decades and vinified with minimal intervention, guided by freedom and respect for the fruit. The vineyards lie on clay, sand, flint and limestone soils, often planted to old vines and sometimes rare or forgotten grape varieties. The wines show bright red or white fruit aromas depending on the cuvée, with notes of crisp apple, pear, red berries, fresh herbs and gentle spice, sometimes accompanied by a light fermentary or wild edge. The palate is juicy, fresh, fluid and highly drinkable, marked by lively acidity and spontaneous energy. Tue Bœuf’s style is joyful, free spirited and honest, with a direct expression of fruit.
