Larmandier Bernier, based in Vertus in the Côte des Blancs, is one of the most admired Champagne domaines for the purity, verticality and crystalline expression of its chardonnays. Led by Pierre and Sophie Larmandier, the estate has been farmed biodynamically for many years, with meticulous attention to soil health, microbial life and true physiological ripeness. The vineyards span Vertus, Oger, Avize and Cramant, offering a mosaic of chardonnay terroirs blending chalky tension with ripe depth. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in barrels and demi muids, followed by long ageing on lees, minimal sulfur and very low dosage. The wines show ripe lemon, yellow apple, pear, white flowers, chalk, sourdough, fresh hazelnut and sometimes flint. The palate is linear, deep and saline, with ample texture yet great purity and a long, vibrant finish. Larmandier Bernier’s style is bright, precise and mineral driven, a benchmark of the Côte des Blancs.
