Terroir & style
Pouilly-Vinzelles is a communal appellation in the Mâconnais, neighboring Pouilly-Fuissé and Pouilly-Loché, centered around the villages of Vinzelles and Loché. It covers around 50 hectares planted exclusively with Chardonnay. The vines grow on Jurassic clay-limestone and white marl soils, facing southeast on well-drained slopes. Chardonnay here yields elegant, concentrated wines with refined minerality. The nose shows white peach, honeysuckle, ripe lemon, and a hint of stone. On the palate, Pouilly-Vinzelles is structured, taut, and long with a mineral, saline finish.

Food pairings
Perfect with pike quenelles, mushroom risotto, or almond-crusted trout.

Good to know
This appellation is small and under the radar, but some climats such as Les Quarts are held in high esteem, rivaling top Pouilly-Fuissé sites.
