Domaine Jérôme Lenoir, located in Beaumont En Véron in the Chinon appellation, is one of the Loire Valley’s most discreet yet cult admired estates for cabernet franc. The Lenoir family has been making wine for five generations, following an unchanged philosophy based on very ripe harvesting, long macerations, extended élevage in old barrels and several years of bottle aging before release. Wines are often sold a decade or more after the vintage. The reds show deep aromas of black cherry, raspberry, plum, forest floor, blond tobacco, fine leather and violet, always marked by the chalky freshness of tuffeau. The palate is broad, silky, evolved yet vibrant, with melted tannins and a mineral line that keeps the wine alive. Lenoir’s style is timeless, reminiscent of the great traditional Chinons, with slow elegance and meditative depth.
