Henri Maire is one of the Jura’s historic names, a major contributor to the region’s reputation throughout the twentieth century. Based in Arbois with extensive holdings on red, grey and blue marl soils, the estate produces a broad range of wines covering the classic Jura styles. The whites, from chardonnay and savagnin, show citrus, yellow apple, white flowers and, in traditional cuvées, walnut or sous voile notes. The reds, made from poulsard, trousseau and pinot noir, offer cherry, wild strawberry, gentle spice and a supple, approachable texture. Henri Maire’s wines are straightforward, traditional and faithful to the region’s identity.
