La Mission Haut Brion is one of the most majestic and profound estates of Pessac Léognan, defined by dark intensity, dense depth and a unique ability to unite power with a sense of quiet spirituality. The vineyard lies on very old gravel mixed with sand and clay, forming a mineral structure that gives cabernet sauvignon and merlot a firm, noble and extraordinarily complex expression. La Mission’s style is marked by intense aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, dark plum, noble tobacco, cedar, gentle smoke, pure graphite and sometimes black truffle or deep spice. The palate is broad and tightly knit, driven by powerful yet remarkably precise tannins and layered depth. The finish is long, statuesque and carried by controlled freshness. With age, La Mission Haut Brion reveals an almost contemplative complexity, with nuances of incense, fine leather, black tea and noble forest floor. It stands as one of the most imposing, serious and spiritually resonant expressions of the Graves.
