Château Pontet Canet is one of Pauillac’s most forward thinking and distinctive estates, defined by vibrant depth, earthy energy and an aromatic purity that has become its hallmark. Located on deep gravel rises mixed with clay, facing some of the appellation’s greatest terroirs, the vineyard has been farmed biodynamically for many years, enhancing fruit expression, natural tension and tactile nuance. Pontet Canet’s style is marked by intense aromas of pure blackcurrant, fresh blackberry, violet, dark peony, liquorice, graphite, cedar and sometimes a hint of gentle smoke or warm earth. The palate is broad, dense and fleshy, carried by ripe yet firm tannins with a velvety, energetic texture. The freshness is vibrant, almost pulsing, stretching the wine into a long, precise and luminous finish. With age, the wine gains complexity, developing layers of dark fruit, fine spice, floral tones and deep minerality that reflect the living character of the soil. It is a Pauillac both powerful and pure, modern in philosophy yet classic in soul, one of the Médoc’s most distinctive crus.
