Moussé Fils, based in Cuisles and Jonquery in the Vallée de la Marne, is one of the leading estates redefining the potential of pinot meunier. The family has long worked the unique green clay and chalk soils of Cuisles, which give meunier unusual tension and salinity. Farming is organic, with strong parcel specificity and respect for natural balance. Vinification uses indigenous yeasts, mostly in tank with some barrels, minimal sulfur and low dosage. The wines show ripe apple, sloe, fresh red berries, citrus, white flowers, wet chalk and occasional herbal or spicy notes. The palate is juicy, elegant and tense, with fine bubbles, marked salinity and a long, clean finish. Moussé’s style is honest, bright and precise, a vibrant modern expression of meunier.
