Henri Bonneau is a true legend of Châteauneuf du Pape, known for producing some of the most singular, profound and emotionally charged wines of the southern Rhône. Working with old vine grenache on sand, galets and limestone, he crafted wines in an utterly distinctive style shaped by extremely long élevage, often over a decade, and a deeply intuitive, almost instinctive approach. The reds show captivating aromas of candied strawberry, garrigue, soft leather, blood orange, exotic spice and sometimes a touch of noble animale. The palate is velvety, expansive and remarkably deep, with a texture that borders on liqueur like richness yet remains lifted by internal freshness. Marie Beurrier and Cuvée des Célestins are among the Rhône’s most coveted bottles, capable of aging gracefully for decades.
