Domaine de Boisseyt, based in Chavanay, is one of the oldest recorded domaines of the northern Rhône, with documents dating back to the late sixteenth century. Long under the radar, the estate has recently seen a revival through a more precise and terroir driven approach to its Côte Rôtie, Condrieu and Saint Joseph vineyards. The soils of schist, gneiss and granite give wines that are linear, fresh and finely structured. The reds show raspberry, blackberry, violet, white pepper, black olive and warm stone, with a lifted palate and firm but elegant tannins. The whites, especially viognier based Condrieu, present apricot, peach, white flowers and a broad yet tense texture. Boisseyt’s style is classic, poised and terroir expressive.
