Maison Deutz, founded in 1838 in Aÿ, is one of Champagne’s historic houses, admired for its precise, elegant and harmonious style. Now owned by the Roederer group, the estate relies on significant holdings in premier and grand cru vineyards, with a strong presence of Aÿ pinot noir and chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs. Winemaking blends tradition and modern technique, using a substantial proportion of reserve wines, stainless steel fermentations and occasional barrel work, along with long ageing for finesse and cohesion. The wines show ripe lemon, yellow fruits, fresh apple, white flowers, delicate brioche and wet chalk. The palate is elegant, linear and creamy without heaviness, with fine bubbles and a clean, persistent finish. Deutz’s style is refined, precise and balanced, among the most consistent and silky of the grandes maisons.
