Terroir and style
Côte Rôtie rises on dramatic, steep slopes of schist, mica schist and granite facing south and southeast above the Rhône. This ancient, terraced vineyard produces some of the world’s most elegant Syrah, often co fermented with a small percentage of Viognier to enhance aroma and finesse. The wines display violet, blackberry, black raspberry, pepper, black olive, smoked bacon and soft spice. The palate is refined and vibrant with fine tannins, lifted freshness and remarkable aromatic depth. Côte Blonde tends to produce smoother, silkier wines, while Côte Brune offers greater structure, tension and ageing potential.

Food pairing
Côte Rôtie pairs beautifully with roasted pigeon, duck, lamb, grilled meats, wild mushrooms and subtly spiced dishes.

Good to know
The extreme slopes and ancient terraces make Côte Rôtie a heroic vineyard. It is widely regarded as the most floral and refined expression of Syrah.

Signature
Côte Rôtie expresses a rare balance of power and finesse, with lifted aromatics and deep elegance.
