Terroir and style
L’Étoile lies on bright white marl from the Triassic and Lias periods mixed with limestone scree. Its name comes from fossilized star shaped crinoids found in the soils. This pale, calcareous terroir produces wines of remarkable purity. Savagnin yields tense, precise whites that may be aged sous voile, while Chardonnay brings delicacy with notes of white flowers, citrus and chalky minerality. Reds from Poulsard and Pinot Noir are light, aromatic and refined. The overall style is elegant, saline and highly focused.

Food pairing
L’Étoile pairs beautifully with lake fish, shellfish, creamy poultry, aged Comté, morels and subtly smoked dishes.

Good to know
L’Étoile is one of the smallest Jura appellations and is prized for its crystalline wines, often the most delicate in the region.
