Terroir & style
Pouilly-Loché is a small communal appellation in the Mâconnais, neighboring Pouilly-Fuissé and located in the village of Loché (now part of Mâcon). It covers about 32 hectares, planted exclusively with Chardonnay. The vineyards lie on Jurassic clay-limestone and marl soils, with mostly south and east exposures. Chardonnay here produces soft, luminous wines that are more restrained than Pouilly-Fuissé but very precise. The nose shows citrus, pear, white flowers, and a chalky nuance. On the palate, the wine is fresh, taut, and finishes clean and slightly salty.
