Terroir & style
Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru covers about 145 hectares, spread over nearly 40 climats between the villages of Nuits-Saint-Georges and Prémeaux-Prissey. Soils vary from deeper, clay-rich soils in the south to stonier, more limestone-based soils in the north. Pinot Noir here produces structured, powerful wines—sometimes austere when young, but always noble and age-worthy. The color is deep garnet. Aromas include blackcurrant, black cherry, black pepper, forest floor, and leather. On the palate, the texture is dense, the tannins firm yet polished, and the finish long and vibrant. A few climats allow Chardonnay, producing firm, mineral-driven whites.

Food pairings
Excellent with wild boar stew, roasted pigeon, or strong cheeses like Langres.

Good to know
Top climats include Les Saint-Georges, Les Cailles, Les Vaucrains, Les Porrets-Saint-Georges, and Les Chaignots. Les Saint-Georges is currently being considered for promotion to Grand Cru status.

Signature
Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru expresses earthy energy, noble rigor, and silent greatness from the southern Côte de Nuits.
