Perched on an exceptional limestone promontory, the estate benefits from a unique microclimate and a fractured limestone subsoil that imparts tension, precision and unmistakable vertical energy. The vineyard is farmed like an intricate garden, with tiny plots, very old vines and a level of care that borders on the monastic. The blend, dominated by cabernet franc and supported by merlot, gives the wine a distinctive personality where depth and density meet mineral purity. Ausone’s wines are renowned for their extraordinary ageing potential and for an aromatic structure combining dark fruits, gentle spice, truffle, limestone freshness and an intensity that reveals itself slowly over time. Each vintage expresses the site more than a stylistic intention, as the estate aims above all to preserve the purest and most faithful translation of its terroir.
