Champagne Godmé, based in Verzenay in the Montagne de Reims, is a family domaine now run by Hélène Godmé, maintaining the estate’s long standing reputation for precision and rigor, especially in Grand Cru pinot noir. The vineyards, farmed sustainably and transitioning to organic, span Verzenay, Verzy, Beaumont sur Vesle and Villers Marmery, giving a balanced palette of pinot noir and chardonnay depending on the site. Vinification uses indigenous yeasts, some barrel ageing, little sulfur and low dosage. The wines show ripe lemon, yellow apple, delicate red berries, white flowers, toasted hazelnut and dry chalk. The palate is linear, saline and tense, with fine bubbles and the firm, mineral depth typical of Verzenay. Godmé’s style is pure, precise and classical, a clearly defined terroir Champagne.
