Domaine de l’Octavin, led by Alice Bouvot, is one of the most distinctive and influential natural wine estates in the Jura. Based in Arbois and farmed biodynamically, the domaine vinifies without additives, creating lively, energetic, often wild edged wines. The red, grey and blue marls form the foundation for expressive single parcel wines in chardonnay, savagnin, poulsard, trousseau and pinot noir, as well as many creative blends. The whites show yellow fruit, ripe citrus, crisp apple, floral notes and gentle spice, with a vibrant and sometimes generous texture. The reds display juicy cherry, wild strawberry, sweet pepper, dried herbs and occasionally a wilder or floral character, always with a fluid, highly drinkable structure. Octavin is driven by spontaneity, energy and freedom, and is essential to understanding today’s natural Jura.
