1951 was a difficult vintage: cold, wet, and very late. Spring and summer were rainy, with little warmth, delaying ripening and compromising harvest. Reds are thin, acidic, often herbal. Whites are austere, tight, and lacking flesh. Very few wines aged well. A short-lived vintage, more for curiosity than enjoyment.

To Know
1951 is a largely unsuccessful vintage. Outside of a few isolated sweet wines, most bottles have faded.

1951 expresses climatic harshness: lean, strict wines with little substance.
