Vougeot 1er Cru spans about 16 hectares across four climats located just above the Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot. Vines grow between 240 and 280 meters in elevation on well-drained, stony clay-limestone soils with eastern to southeastern exposure. Pinot Noir here delivers structured and precise wines. The color is deep ruby. The nose shows black cherry, grey pepper, dried rose, leather and damp earth. On the palate, the tannins are firm yet refined with strong concentration, a mineral backbone and a persistent floral finish.

Food pairings
Excellent with roasted pigeon, braised beef cheek or veal tournedos with mushrooms.

Good to know
The four Premier Cru climats are Le Clos Blanc, Les Cras, Les Petits Vougeots and Les Rouges du Bas. These are the only parcels in Vougeot not included in the famous Clos.
