Pignan is one of the emblematic cuvées of Château Rayas, produced by the Reynaud family from select parcels of grenache planted in the sandy soils of Châteauneuf du Pape. Although sometimes viewed as the younger sister to Rayas, Pignan stands on its own with a personality defined by delicacy, aromatic grace and a particularly fine expression of sand driven terroir. The wine shows wild strawberry, raspberry, dried rose, blood orange, soft garrigue and light spice. The palate is airy, fluid and bright, with very fine tannins and a freshness that lifts the natural ripeness of grenache. Pignan is poetic and gentle, often more immediately charming than Rayas, though less deep. It represents a refined, subtle and purely elegant vision of grenache.
