Ruinart, founded in 1729 and based in Reims, is the oldest Champagne house still in operation. It has become a benchmark for chardonnay driven Champagne, known for its purity, brightness and refined elegance. The vineyards, largely located on the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims, sit on deep chalk soils that bring tension, freshness and precise aromatics. Vinification relies mostly on stainless steel, with some indigenous yeast ferments, long lees ageing and moderate dosage. The wines show ripe lemon, green apple, pear, white flowers, wet stone and occasional almond or linden notes. The palate is pure, silky and lifted, with very fine bubbles, delicate minerality and a long, linear finish. Ruinart’s style is crystalline, refined and airy, an elegant and timeless expression of chardonnay in Champagne.
