M. Chapoutier is one of the Rhône Valley’s most influential producers, active in both the northern and southern Rhône and renowned for its precise single vineyard wines as well as its wide range of cuvées. Based in Tain l’Hermitage, the estate farms a vast mosaic of granite, schist, clay and sand depending on the appellation, with all vineyards cultivated biodynamically or in conversion. Northern Rhône reds made from pure syrah show aromas of violet, blackberry, pepper, black olive and warm stone, with a tense, structured and deep palate. Northern whites, mostly from marsanne and roussanne, display light honey, flowers, white fruit and a generous yet fresh texture. In the south, grenache based blends are more sun soaked, offering ripe strawberry, garrigue and sweet spice with a broad but balanced mouthfeel. The top single vineyard wines such as L’Ermite, Le Méal or De L’Orée rank among the Rhône’s most sought after bottles. Chapoutier’s style is defined by precision, terroir clarity and consistency across the entire range.
