Domaine du Pélican, owned by the d’Auvenay and Marquis d’Angerville family of Burgundy, has rapidly become one of the Jura’s most precise and elegant estates. Based around Arbois on red, grey and blue marl as well as limestone scree, the domaine farms biodynamically and seeks extremely pure expressions of chardonnay, savagnin, pinot noir, poulsard and trousseau. The whites show clean citrus, yellow apple, fine florals and clear minerality, with a straight, tense and precise texture. The savagnins, whether topped up or classically aged, deliver strong energy, dried herbs, warm stone, light walnut and marked salinity. The reds display fresh cherry, strawberry, peony and gentle spice with a silky, almost Burgundian texture anchored in Jura identity. Pélican’s style is pure, bright, balanced and tensile.
