2012 is a taut, precise and often underrated vintage. The early season was cool and unstable, with rainy spring and tricky flowering. Summer was warm but not extreme, allowing good ripeness where vines held strong. Harvests were selective and mostly manual, with low yields but concentrated grapes. Reds are balanced and pure, with fine tannins. Whites are brilliant, focused and supported by lively acidity.

Burgundy: low yields, refined reds, brilliant whites
Bordeaux: reduced volumes, top wines in Pomerol and Margaux
Rhône Valley: elegant north, sunnier south
Loire: precise wines, vibrant chenins, light and fresh reds
Alsace: tricky year, but some excellent dry whites
Champagne: rare harvest, great quality, preserved acidity

Worth Noting
2012 is a small but mighty vintage. It offers clarity, balance and real aging potential, especially in cooler climates and with careful selection.
