A Family History Dating Back to 1863

Founded in 1863 by Frédéric Mugnier, a liqueur merchant in Dijon, the estate gradually built an exceptional heritage in the heart of Chambolle Musigny. For much of the 20^th century, the vineyards were leased to tenant farmers. In 1985, Frédéric Mugnier gradually took back control of their cultivation and restored the estate's identity, guided by a simple ambition: to reveal each climat without artifice. Here, winemaking favours delicacy over power. Ageing is carefully measured in order to preserve the identity of each terroir. This approach gives rise to Pinot Noirs of remarkable purity, renowned for their balance, freshness and outstanding ageing potential. The estate cultivates several of the most prestigious climats of Chambolle Musigny. Each parcel is vinified separately in order to express the nuances specific to its terroir with precision.

The Great Terroirs of Domaine Mugnier

Musigny Grand Cru: A true flagship of the estate, Musigny Grand Cru captivates with its balance, depth and extraordinary ageing potential. It ranks among Burgundy's greatest Pinot Noirs. Les Amoureuses: Often regarded as the most prestigious of Chambolle Musigny's Premier Crus, Les Amoureuses offers a highly elegant style, in which finesse always takes precedence over power. Bonnes Mares Grand Cru: More structured than Musigny, Bonnes Mares displays remarkable intensity while retaining the precision and balance that characterise the estate's wines. Le Clos de la Maréchale: Located in Nuits Saint Georges, this Premier Cru monopole has been cultivated by the estate since 2004. It produces more structured wines while remaining true to J.F. Mugnier's elegant style.
